The “Tuten Touchdown” Graphic

  • For this Virginia Tech design challenge, I wanted to step outside my comfort zone and create a graphic style I wasn’t used to—something rooted in data and statistics for social media. I challenged myself to design with intention, making the number the bold focal point to immediately draw viewers in and spark curiosity. The goal was to hook the audience visually, then guide them to the “why” behind the stat. It pushed me creatively and strategically, and reminded me how powerful design can be when it's both eye-catching and informative. Proud of how this one came together!

  • This Virginia Tech graphic started with a simple challenge—and just 30 minutes on the clock. I began by pulling inspiration from VT’s signature colors to set the tone, then masked the background of the player to make him stand out. From there, I layered in textures, added effects, and carefully placed the text to draw the eye. I played around with shadows and depth until the entire piece felt balanced and bold. Even on a tight deadline, it was all about trusting my eye, experimenting, and pushing the design until it felt just right.

  • My takeaways were to stick with what you know and build.
